Outstanding in their field: crowning our Scarecrow Trail winner!
We had an incredible turnout for our 2026 Scarecrow Trail. Over the last few weeks, the grounds were bustling with visitors of all ages, wrapped up and ready to explore every nook and cranny of our grounds. Armed with trail maps and a vote, an estimated 550 of you set off along the pathways to track down each character - in our most successful year yet.
This year we decided to open up the talent pool and involve local communities and schools as well as our Odney Partners. This years theme was 'Children's Book Characters'. While there were a few familiar faces there we some interesting creations scattered across the estate. From clever use of recycled materials, to delightfully detailed outfits and wacky concepts - the scarecrows this year made picking just one favourite a tough call!
Our wonderful reception team had the tough job of counting every single vote and one creation clearly captured your hearts. We are delighted to announce that this year’s Scarecrow Trail champion is "Gru and Minions". Congratulations to our very own Hotels Admin Team!
Guests loved their mischievous faces, and dungarees made from repurposed blue IKEA bags, and a masterfully crafted pumpkin Gru brought villainous smiles to everyone who passed by.
A big thank you to The Elizabeth House, local Cookham Guiding groups, the pupils of St Piran’s school and Cookham Dean school. A special mention to our fantastic grounds team for always going above and beyond preparing the materials for this event and keeping the trail looking immaculate.
We hope you had spooktacular Halloween!
